About The Position

We are seeking experienced Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM) Machinists to support service and repair machining projects on large, complex components. This is a travel‑based opportunity working on high‑value parts with tight tolerances in a team‑focused environment.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an HBM Machinist - 3‑axis experience required; 4–5 axis preferred
• Strong blueprint and setup‑sheet reading skills
• Experience machining large, heavy parts (forgings preferred)
• Solid understanding of the metric system
• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Proficient with precision measuring tools (mics, indicators, calipers, bore gauges)
• Comfortable working in a dirty, oil‑coolant environment
• Reliable, detail‑oriented, and team‑focused

Nice To Haves

• Experience with lathe operations (required for Rotary Table HBM roles)
• Experience with castings or weldments
• Experience with specialty or custom tooling

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Horizontal Boring Mill (HBM) machines (3–5 axis)
• Perform setups using drawings, sketches, setup sheets, and work instructions
• Run parts with long cycle times (often spanning multiple shifts)
• Perform tool and block touch‑offs only (no program editing)
• Machine large forged components made from specialty materials
• Inspect own work using provided inspection sheets and precision gages
• Read and apply GD&T requirements
• Operate overhead cranes to move and position large parts (training provided)
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Work collaboratively as part of a strong shop culture
