About The Position

The HazMat Shipping Manager is expected to manage daily orders, assess needed training, ensure the accuracy of the shipping team (5 staff members) and the shipping process of products from the facility to their final destination. The HazMat Shipping Manager is responsible for safe, compliant handling, shipping and receiving hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with US DOT and OSHA regulations and company policies. Ensures accurate documentation, proper labeling and timely movement of materials while maintaining a high standard of safety and inventory control. This position consists of managing HazMat orders that leave the dock. All written instructions and rules need to be followed when preparing for shipping due to domestic and international transportation laws. You may be periodically called upon to assist with any of the other various duties in the shipping department.

Requirements

  • Ideally 3 + years related experience of a similar type and level of responsibility.
  • Minimum of 1-year previous experience in shipping HazMat products.
  • Proficient with shipping documentation process.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite software.
  • Able to occasionally work beyond normal shifts to meet goals.
  • The use of a forklift will be required for this position; training will be provided if necessary.
  • Certification in IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR will be required within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare hazardous material shipments for accuracy, condition and regulatory compliance.
  • Request and prepare freight quotes, coordinate with carriers and logistics teams to ensure on-time deliveries.
  • Prepare shipping documents such as pick list and packing slips, marking and placarding.
  • Complete and maintain all required HAZMAT shipping documentation (SDS, bills of landing, SLI, invoice etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with US DOT, IATA, IMDG and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Safely load and unload materials with forklifts, pallet jacks and material-handling equipment as needed.
  • Perform duties at a pace that supports company production goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
