About The Position

Aviagen is seeking candidates for its Hatchery Service Team. This role involves checking and grading chicks to quality standards, building boxes and labeling for chick transport, and manual handling of eggs and chicks within the hatchery. The associate is responsible for ensuring equipment is in good working order, maintaining sufficient consumable stocks, and upholding high standards of chick and egg welfare. Adherence to company protocols for cleaning, hygiene, biosecurity, and safe working practices, including the use of appropriate PPE and accident reporting, is essential.   • Ability to Work with a team
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of simple Microsoft programs such as Excel & Word

Responsibilities

  • Check & Grade Chicks to the Quality Standard
  • Perform duties unsupervised and possess a positive attitude
  • Perform under stress and have good decision-making skills, take initiative, and strive for continuous improvement
  • Build Boxes for chick transport and complete labels to distinguish orders
  • Manual Handling when transferring eggs to other trolleys and other parts of the hatchery
  • Ensure all equipment being used is in good working order and sufficient stocks of consumable material are available to achieve requirements
  • Be confident that standards of chick & egg welfare are met at all times in the handling of chicks/eggs during the various treatments
  • Ensure you follow appropriate cleaning and hygiene standards according to agreed company protocols
  • Ensure you follow safe working practices and wear appropriate PPE at all times
  • Ensure all accident and near miss reporting procedures are followed
  • Ensure high standards of biosecurity are maintained at all times
