About The Position

Harvest Pointe is seeking a pool/on-call team member who is open to being cross-trained as a Resident Care Assistant and Cook. This role offers a flexible, as-needed schedule that varies based on staffing needs, making it an excellent fit for someone looking for supplemental hours — such as a college student, semi-retired professional, or anyone who enjoys a flexible work arrangement. In this role, you’ll help provide compassionate care to residents while also assisting with meal preparation to support a warm, welcoming environment.

Requirements

  • A high school education or equivalent is desired.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must possess leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity services.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a residents condition.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of the position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the facility.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
  • Must be able to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Must be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures.
  • Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment and the appearance of dietary service areas.
  • Must follow dietary uniform standards.
  • Must be able to handle prolonged standing, bending, and turning.
  • Must be able to handle repetitive motion.
  • Must be 18 years old or older.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 4 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 6 feet.
  • Stock personnel may be required to lift cases up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to taste and smell food to determine quality and palatability.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to one (1) years dietary experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility, or other related medical facility preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide resident care per the resident centered service plan.
  • Medication management for residents.
  • Assist with activities of daily living.
  • Assist with meal preparation
  • Handle and prepare foods and fluids in accordance with sanitary regulations.
  • Clean living rooms, restrooms, laundry rooms, and common areas.
