About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Hardware Engineer to help the Network Support on our Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management - Next-Gen (JSP ETM - NG) program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. This position has a 12-hour shift work schedule (Wednesday-Saturday 6pm - 6am). Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite. The Hardware Engineer will make an impact by detecting, reporting, troubleshooting, and repairing Pentagon Transport layer circuits in a 24/7 facility. They will perform Operations & Maintenance responsibilities for complex Command and Control Networks, work independently to troubleshoot and isolate complex network outages, develop and present modified engineering schematics, provision and re-route Command and Control Traffic, perform Tier III level repair of communications equipment, and perform administrative duties for Type-1 Encryption management network, including device firmware & software upgrades. The role also involves utilization of monitoring tools for reactive and proactive support, providing hardware, computer systems, and electrical components support in classified networks, and applying industry accepted standards and best practices related to Information Management Operations and ITSM.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • IAT Level II certification
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, OR equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of related hardware engineering experience.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working within Technical Control and/or SCIF environment
  • Experience designing and developing information processing hardware, computer systems, and electrical components
  • Full-time onsite at the Pentagon - Arlington VA.
  • US Citizenship Required

  • Military Technical Control Experience
  • Experience operating and maintain fill devices including DTDs, SKLs, KYK-13s, KYK-15s, KOI-18s.
  • Experience operate and maintain encryption devices such as KIV-7/7Ms, Fastlanes, Taclanes, Key Generators, and STE equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in digital and analogue circuit design and implementation.
  • Experience in the analysis testing and troubleshooting TDM & TDMoIP circuits.
  • Knowledge of IP and optical network operation.
  • Must be knowledgeable of equipment to include transport systems (DWDM, SONET, TDMoIP and TDM), timing and sync, circuit test and analysis, electrical/physical interfaces, crypto, and circuit signaling.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Promina/NX-1000 operation, provisioning, and installation.

Responsibilities

  • Detect, report, troubleshoot and repair to Pentagon Transport layer circuits in a 24/7 facility.
  • Perform Operations & Maintenance responsibilities for complex Command and Control Networks.
  • Work independently to troubleshoot and isolate complex network outages to minimize customer downtime.
  • Develop and present modified engineering schematics to reflect current and proposed Network & Circuit design changes.
  • Provision and re-route Command and Control Traffic to meet the needs of VIP & Flag Officer customer base.
  • Perform Tier III level repair of communications equipment down to the card and port level.
  • Perform administrative duties for Type-1 Encryption management network. To include Device firmware & software upgrades.
  • Utilization of monitoring tools to provide both reactive and proactive support for the clients’ network and systems infrastructure.
  • Provide hardware, computer systems, and electrical components support and operations in classified networks.
  • Application of industry accepted standards and best practices related to Information Management Operations and with ITSM best practices.
