About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Hardware Engineer Associate (Radar) to support the Space Force Range Contract. Essential Functions Assist with the development of complex radar systems modeling, simulation, and analysis to provide the most appropriate technical solution Primary focus will be on C-Band Radar systems on the Eastern Range Support Level 1, 2, and 3 testing to qualify radar systems for Launch Range operations Plan, conduct, and assist in the execution of radar sustainment projects Develop, recommend, and implement design approaches for products and/or processes Coordinate the efforts of technical support personnel for assigned projects Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system requirements, business proposals, and subcontractor procurement documentation Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations Interpret electronic schematics of mixed analog and digital circuitry Analyze, develop, recommend and implement approaches to meet Range requirements Perform system deficiency analyses and provide technical reports with recommended courses of action Research, procure, and test replacement or substitute parts for items that have Diminished Manufacturing Sources and Materiel Shortages (DMSMS) Review literature, patents and current practices to support business requirements and/or new industry technology Prepare reports regarding new technology to communicate with appropriate personnel Evaluate component suppliers and vendor capabilities. Act as liaison with approved vendors/suppliers to maintain product/process availability and working relationship Serve as an interface for project information to internal management and the customers Apply experience to sustainment/development of Range RF systems, to include transmitters, receivers, antennas and control systems for Radar, Weather, Surveillance and Command systems Assist Depot with problematic repairs of Line Replaceable Units (LRU’s) Provide expertise to level 2 requests for engineering assistance to restore operational systems Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues verbally and through written media such as graphical slides and verbal presentations to contract management and customers
  • Ability to read and understand wire diagrams, schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Strong theoretical, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills from system level to component level
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to balance, plan, prioritize, and execute projects
  • Good interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external support personnel and provide guidance to less experienced engineers
  • Ability to work within a dynamic, fast paced environment with time constraints
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM related discipline (BSEE preferred)
  • 0-2 years of relevant radar, RF experience
  • Experience working with Windows based computer systems and components and Office tool suite
  • Experience providing inputs to complex project proposals within defined time constraints involving multi-disciplined teams
  • In-depth understanding of the principles and mitigation of RFI
  • Understanding of the principles and application of RF instrumentation of the Eastern and Western Range.
  • General knowledge of instrumentation systems troubleshooting
  • Proficient in use of specialized test equipment including but not limited to VOMs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and oscilloscopes
  • Fundamental knowledge in technical writing for development of technical reports (White Papers) and other technical support documentation
  • Familiarization with computer systems including single-board (SBCs), servers, and workstations
  • Familiarization with the Linux and Windows Operating systems
  • Familiarization with ER MIPR class radars, hands on trouble shooting a plus.
  • Familiarization with digital interface design to include familiarization with interface modules, cable/wire types and connector systems
  • Fundamental knowledge of hardware systems integration and testing of both Analog and Digital systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Responsibilities
