About The Position

Hardware Development Engineer - Mechanical (Reedsville, PA) As a Hardware Development Engineer, you will be sustaining post launch mechanical and electro-mechanical components for ultrasound products. You will work with a cross functional team of electrical, mechanical, system, manufacturing, and service engineers to support existing hardware throughout the product lifecycle. This role involves troubleshooting field issues, implementing design changes, supporting manufacturing, and ensuring product reliability, while ensuring that design is consistent with the higher-level architecture and requirements.

Requirements

  • You have 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, contributing as an individual contributor with a disciplined and independent work style.
  • You bring expertise in design techniques and reliability principles (e.g., DFSS, Risk Analysis, DFMEA, DFM, GD&T), hardware/software interfaces, thermal modeling (preferred), and configuration management tools such as eMatrix, Windchill, or SAP.
  • You hold a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position and be open to traveling domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time.
  • You demonstrate excellent communication, technical writing, and collaboration skills that support cross-functional teamwork and effective documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus skills include proficiency in CAD & FEA tools like ProE, SolidWorks, Ansys Classic, and Ansys Workbench.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support for mechanical and electro-mechanical components after product launch.
  • Lead complex technical projects and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Support electromechanical systems through production and aftermarket phases, focusing on root cause analysis and creative design solutions.
  • Assist with verification and validation activities to ensure successful implementation.
  • Investigate manufacturing and customer-reported failures to identify root causes.
  • Develop and implement design improvements to enhance manufacturability and prevent recurring defects.
  • Create and update mechanical design packages including CAD drawings, BOMs, and test procedures.
  • Manage component obsolescence by qualifying alternate parts and verifying module performance.
  • Collaborate with teams across design, test, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to drive corrective actions and improvements.
  • Contribute to VAVE, sustaining engineering, supplier transfers, and advise on make-or-buy decisions.
