Occupational Therapist - Mercy Health Eastgate Ortho and Spine Our preferred candidate is a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) Mercy Health Orthopaedics and Sports Rehabilitation in Eastgate is seeking a dynamic Occupational or Physical Therapist with certification in Hand Therapy. This position offers the unique opportunity to collaborate with Dr. Megan Rudolph, a fellowship-trained Orthopaedic and Hand Surgeon, to develop a regional Hand Therapy program across Cincinnati. Dr. Rudolph is building a growing practice and will work closely with the therapist to create rehabilitation protocols and workflows tailored to post-operative and non-operative hand, wrist, and elbow conditions. As a faith-based healthcare organization, Mercy Health is committed to providing the highest level of care across all patient populations. Mercy Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation is a leader in evidence-based orthopaedic and sports medicine care, and all therapists work closely with our skilled orthopaedic physicians. Our treatment model is impairment-based, focusing on hands-on, evidence-driven care delivered one-on-one. Therapists are trained in advanced skills, including dry needling, manual therapy, manipulative techniques, evidence-based return-to-play protocols, and advanced sports medicine training. The Eastgate Orthopaedic and Sports Rehabilitation team serves a broad patient population, including outpatients, post-surgical patients, and those seeking sports medicine care. The clinic has strong relationships with local high schools such as West Clermont, Batavia, Williamsburg, Clermont Northeastern, and Western Brown High Schools, and Mercy Health is also a provider for FC Cincinnati. Job Summary: The Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in enhancing patients' ability to perform daily tasks related to work and life. They conduct assessments, devise treatment plans based on physician referrals, and document patient progress. This encompasses outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings.

Requirements

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of current practice or meet all qualifications for traineeship or temporary license in the state of current practice (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, required at hire for RSFH)
  • 2 years of experience in equivalent setting (preferred)
  • Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Analytical abilities to evaluate patient condition, capabilities and progress.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.
  • Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review physician referrals and patient medical history to determine therapy needs.
  • Conduct and document patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment plans according to department protocols.
  • Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments and create custom equipment for individual needs.
  • Develop programs focusing on functional skills, vocational training, daily activities, and motor skills.
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment goals and plans as necessary, participating in patient care conferences.
  • Educate patients and families on at-home treatment procedures.
