The incumbent in this position supports the activities and responsibilities of the Paint Room Department.

Requirements

  • Basic reading is necessary in the pulling of product-identifying information from the ticket.
  • Knowledge of parts, specifications, and characteristics, including types of finish, parts, physical dimensions, and wood.
  • Knowledge of production line-up schedule and job ticket labels to identify and verify parts.
  • Ability to stay-on-task, follow safety guidelines and work process procedures.
  • Knowledge of quality standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with others
  • Must have good hand and eye coordination.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • A desire for learning and professional growth.
  • Genuine interest in finishing, wood, and paint.
  • High School, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, prioritizing and time management.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete on a timely basis.
  • Experience properly removing wood fibers and trash parts.
  • Experience applying sanding materials to achieved desired results.

Responsibilities

  • Smooths surface of wood preparatory to finishing using sandpaper.
  • Prepares sandpaper/sponges for quick applications
  • Sandpaper - to remove protruding fibers from the wood.
  • Sanding Sponge - Removes fine protruding fibers from the wood.
  • Checks sign and part labels for material application description.
  • Inspects incoming parts for defects such as burrs, splinters, excess glue, etc.
  • Applies appropriate sanding technique ensuring quality and smoothness.
  • Inspects work for quality.
  • Assists co-workers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
