About The Position

Texas Oncology is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This position will support the Prestonwood location in the Gyn Onc department. This position also requires travel to Frisco West weekly. Typlical work hours may include Monday-Friday 8:30a-5p with no weekends, call, or major holidays. This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience. What does the Certified Medical Assistant do? (Including but not limited to) Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e. exams, and procedures. Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks, answering phones, and maintaining physicians schedule. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. GYN ONC Clinic, Assist providers in procedures, Chaperone providers during pelvic exams, Process Specimens, Utilize autoclave to clean and sterilize equipment and instruments. Perform autoclave cleaning/maintenance

Requirements

  • Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each office visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by providers and verifies presence of consent prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists providers with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Assists with delegated patient education including but not limited to distributing education literature, etc.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Utilizes autoclave to sterilize instruments and equipment
  • Performs autoclave cleaning/maintenance per user manual and TXO policy
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician, APP, or nurse
  • eScribes prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by providers and RN.
  • Schedules patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments
  • Assists with select pre-authorizations and pre-certifications as needed.
  • Informs providers of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Ensures new patient records and intake forms are complete
  • Sends electronic depression screenings and ensures completion prior to office visit.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing, faxing, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or providers.
  • Maintains sample drug program as assigned.
  • Enters orders within scope of practice under a provider's direction and supervision
