About The Position

Oversees the development and operations of the gymnastics program. Provides liaison to committee(s) and advisory board(s). Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director of Programs, this position will plan, organize, and direct the instructional classes, competitive teams, and special events in gymnastics for the Wichita Falls YMCA. This will include the promotion, training, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of instructors and coaches, and the management of materials and equipment for the program. The incumbent in this position is expected to work 45-50 hours per week to complete the tasks.

Requirements

  • Management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency, preferred.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification within first 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA.
  • Execute strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  • Develops and controls department budget.
  • Work within the approved budget for the department on wages, expenses, supplies, and projected income.
  • Hires, trains, supervise staff and volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
  • Models’ relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
  • Attend Job Fairs.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Assures compliance with all state, local and USAG regulations.
  • Ensure that program standards are met, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Maintain strict oversight of Department of Labor (DOL) standards, ensuring 100% accuracy in time and attendance reporting and staff labor law compliance.
  • Drive team readiness by ensuring all direct reports remain fully compliant with mandatory onboarding, specialized certifications, and ongoing professional development.
  • Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations, and on-going training of staff.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
  • Maintain annual USAG facility accreditation and certifications.
  • Plan and administer the schedule of classes, and team workouts, to be offered and teaching hours to be covered that meet the needs of the program and desires of the members, students, and YMCA.
  • Set a schedule for coaches to meet demands of each level, class, and number of program participants to keep within USAG ratio requirements.
  • Personally teach and coach at least 10 hours per week as per program needs.
  • Be present in the gym supervising coaches and students.
  • With the assistance of the Administrative Assistant, prepare and keep payment records, reports, waivers, rental agreements, incident reports and other required paperwork etc.
  • See that safety, maintenance, and upkeep (oiling equipment, pit maintenance, cleaning etc.), of equipment is completed on a regular schedule.
  • Maintain adequate supplies are readily available for the program.
  • Attend all Branch, Association staff and Quality Team meetings as scheduled, or meetings as requested.
  • Work in tandem with Marketing Directors to market and promote the gymnastics program, activities, special events etc.
  • Host a Parent’s Night Out a minimum of once a month.
  • Coordinate private lessons with qualified staff while maintaining general class programming as the priority.
  • Participate in association volunteer activities such as, but not limited to, Kids Fest, Healthy Kids Day, Miracle League, Annual Fall Festival, etc., to promote YMCA gymnastics to the community and surrounding areas.
  • Begin National YMCA Leader & Team Leader career track to advance your professional position within 12 months of employment.
  • YMCA LCDC (online training), attend seminars, clinics, and professional meetings in your areas of expertise on a regular basis.
  • Maintain membership roles and requirements within USAG Gymnastics. Minimum level Competitive Coach and Owner/Manager Director
  • Completes required association child abuse and risk management training.
  • Adheres to association and position training requirements.
  • Participates in annual fundraising.
  • Work various hours and locations to meet association needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager and/or Senior Leadership.
