About The Position
The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is one of the largest charities in the DC area. The Y serves as an anchor in the community offering programs and services encompassing youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Join our team at YMCA Ayrlawn Program Center in Bethesda, Maryland as a gymnastics coach working with youth in our program! We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about teaching gymnastics and helping others develop their skills. Some of the exciting things you will do as a Gymnastics Coach: Assists in oversight of all the gymnastic program activities, communicating with families and ensuring all equipment and supplies are available Provides gymnastics instruction/or coach to children and/or adults under the direct supervision of the Gymnastics Director, following the philosophy and goals of the YMCA Gymnastics programs Develop and implement age-appropriate gymnastics lessons and programs for youth participants Provide instruction and guidance in gymnastics skills and techniques Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during gymnastics classes Motivate and encourage participants to reach their full potential in gymnastics Collaborate with other coaches and staff to create a positive and inclusive gymnastics environment Establishes structure and routines for children setting boundaries and behavior guidelines Attends parent/child events as required. Effectively communicates with parents throughout the program year
Requirements
- Previous experience coaching gymnastics, preferably with youth athletes
- Knowledge of gymnastics skills and techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Clear the local jurisdiction requirements for criminal background and/or fingerprinting
- Will be required to complete the YMCA Gymnastics Fundamentals Course. These courses may be waived by the Gymnastics Director if background and experience is determined to be equivalent.
