About The Position

The Gym Attendant plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all YMCA members. Gym Attendant must be available to work evenings and weekends. This position is responsible for overseeing gym activities, ensuring members participate in activities that are appropriate to each individual and exercise while embodying the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a recreational or fitness environment
  • Ability to lead and mediate conflict in group settings
  • Knowledge of Various sports rules and safety practices
  • CPR and First Aid certification is required within 60 days of employment
  • A commitment to embodying and promoting YMCA core values
  • Must be physically capable of observing listening and intervening in stressful situations
  • Must be physically capable of lifting 45 pounds
  • Must be able to quickly reach a person and/or situations to prevent harm
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends
  • All candidates must have reliable transportation.
  • Job offers are contingent upon completion of a rigorous criminal history background check.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Gym Activities: Monitor all gym activities to ensure safety and compliance with rules and regulations. Enforcing the gym schedule and assisting with transitions between programs in the gym.
  • Conflict Resolution: Take a lead role in resolving disputes or disagreements regarding game rules and sportsmanship.
  • Member Support: Provide exceptional customer service and support to all members, assisting with inquiries and promoting a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Cleaning and organizing the gym and equipment during shift and before closing.
  • Engagement: Facilitate and encourage participation in various sprots and activities, fostering an inclusive environment for all.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to and enforce safety protocols, ensuring that all members are aware of and follow gym rules.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other staff members to coordinate activities and improve member experience.
