Your career path with us starts here As a Guest Services Officer, you will be responsible for handling passenger queries and complaints. Acts as passenger’s banker for cashing of traveler’s checks, changing monies and other ship-provided services, including, but not limited to deposits and payments of accounts. Must display good communication skills and be able to deal with passenger queries and complaints daily. The Guest Services Officer will have good typing skills, be computer literate and have a presentable appearance. Supports the Guest Serv ices team, including problem solving, especially in the GSM and/or GSAM’s absence and particularly at peak times such as disembarkation and embarkation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Relevant ship experience is preferred
  • Good level of English language
  • Hospitality / travel industry education and experience required.
  • Minimum one-year experience in hotel and/or catering establishments; or Guest Relations related positions on board ships.
  • Experience in front office preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in typing and computer software skills (Microsoft Word,
  • Excel, Fidelio Cruise, File Maker Pro).
  • Customer service/guest relations oriented, well organized with excellent leadership skills.
  • Passionate about hospitality and customer service driven
  • Able to work 7 days a week.
  • Demonstrate positive behaviors, smiling, being polite and courteous.
  • Able to develop a camaraderie with team members.
  • Ability to live in close quarters, share limited space with other cabin-mates.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to passenger queries regarding general information about the ship (for example: ship’s direction, time of activities and mealtimes.) Receive calls regarding accommodations, supplies, and technical problems.
  • Cash traveler’s checks, ensuring that the passenger’s signature matches that of the individual cashing the check. Ensure the travelers check is in US currency. Provide currency exchange services of Bahamian dollars into US currency with the approval of the Chief Accountant.
  • Ensure that each guest who opens an account with cash has provided the minimum cash deposit. If the minimum cash deposit has not been received, the Guest Services Officer must deactivate card/s by cutting the bottom sides of the card, thus all department concerned will be aware of the guest’s onboard status.
  • Other responsibilities include accepting cash payments in lieu of credit cards, issuing refunds at the end of the cruise, screening credit card applications to ensure the form has been properly completed and assisting the accounting dept with the “bad debt list” to ensure that payment has been collected and there remains no balance due.
  • Record all cash received and update in the Fidelio System.
