About The Position

A Guest Services Officer the first person guests see when they come to Chelsea Piers. They set the initial expectation of customer service at Chelsea Piers. It's important that they greet all customers in a professional and courteous manner, assist them with any questions, and give them directions to a specific site. Guest Services Officers are also responsible for maintaining a safe site for all of our customers and employees. We currently are hiring for full and part-time Guest Services Officers at Chelsea Piers.

Requirements

• Superior customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
• Ability to remain on feet, either standing at post or walking assigned area, for a period of up to six hours at a time.
• Ability to be outside in the elements while on exterior posts.
• Must be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy working in a team environment.
• Ability to convey authority in a respectful and professional manner.
• Must maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.
• Must obtain FDNY Fire Guard certification F-03 within the first two months of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and provide information and directions in a courteous and professional manner.
• Maintain safe, secure, and orderly site and facilities.
• Direct customer vehicles to proper parking locations and open spots.
• Direct delivery and commercial vehicles to their proper drop off and loading areas.
• Direct vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians at crosswalks.
• Report any/all hazardous situations.
• Prohibit loitering, onsite consumption of alcohol, and/or use of illegal drugs.
• Assist maintenance and parking departments, when necessary, including seasonal snow removal.
• Walk site to guard against vandalism and/or thefts.
• Make scheduled rounds of facility to ensure proper level of safety is maintained throughout the complex.
• Complete accident reports when appropriate.
• When closed, make sure all doors are securely locked, and that there are no unauthorized persons in the complex.

After one (1) year of full-time service, you will be eligible to receive tuition assistance paid by Chelsea Piers in the amount of $750 annually for your first five (5) years of full-time employment and $1,500 annually after five (5) years of full-time employment. The education, instruction, or training must be job-related and/or or have the potential to strengthen your skills/knowledge and enhance your performance.
• TransitChek Program – You will be eligible to participate in the TransitChek program, which allows for the pre-tax purchase of MetroCards or TransitChek debit cards that are used to purchase commuting tickets and passes from transit operators throughout the metropolitan area.
• Employee Referral Program – We encourage our employees to refer their qualified family and friends to work at Chelsea Piers. For any referral who is hired and stays at Chelsea Piers a minimum of sixty (60) days, you will receive a referral bonus of $500 for full-time hires (minimum 35 hours per week) and $250 for part-time/non-seasonal hires (minimum twenty (20) hours per week). Upon your start date, you will also receive an Employee Venue Usage sheet detailing other exciting employee perks and discounts provided throughout the complex.
