About The Position

The Guest Services Associate at Discovery Park of America plays a crucial role in enhancing the visitors’ experience by providing exceptional customer service while also maximizing ticket and merchandise sales. The guest services associate serves as one of the initial points of contact for guests and is responsible for ensuring they feel welcomed and well-informed. The guest services associate’s responsibilities include processing tickets, merchandise, membership sales, handling customer inquiries, and maintaining the ticket counter and gift shop. It is the Guest Services Associate’s responsibility to carry out the strategic plan for sales, and daily operations set by the Director of Guest Services and the Guest Services Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old (preferred).
  • High School diploma (current student or graduate).
  • Available to work weekdays, weekends, and some evenings. (required)
  • Strong work ethic, urgency, and tenacity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask, solve problems, and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Capable of standing for long periods, climbing stool steps, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or sitting, and lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in customer service and retail sales, including cash handling (preferred).
  • Familiarity with computerized ticketing systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Utilize ticketing software to maximize ticket and revenue sales.
  • Greet and assist customers with enthusiasm, providing information and directions.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Discovery Park of America’s mission, pricing, policies, and procedures.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, resolving minor conflicts and complaints effectively.
  • Operate the Altru ticketing system to optimize sales and troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain the ticket counter and gift shop, including cleaning, inventory management, and display rotation.
  • Process cash and credit card payments, ensuring accurate end-of-shift cash balancing.
  • Must work a minimum of 30 hours per week and maintain continuous employment status
