About The Position

The Ground Service Mechanic is responsible for general troubleshooting and repair work on a variety of auto and diesel engines and associated systems, including electrical systems, transmissions, gears, and brakes, for airport service equipment. Requirements

  • At least two years of experience with troubleshooting and repair on gas/diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, transmission/rear end, basic chassis/brakes.
  • Fabrication skills (MIG and Arc welding/cutting).
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a High school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Be able to obtain airport security clearance, which includes an extensive 10-year employment, criminal record, and residence background check.
  • Be able to lift up to 70 pounds (32 kg) in confined spaces on a regular basis.
  • Be able to climb, bend, kneel, crawl and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods.
  • Be able to work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises.
  • Be flexible to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provide prompt response to equipment service requests to troubleshoot and repair: vehicles & belt loaders (unleaded, diesel, and propane engines), lavatory service trucks, air conditioner carts, ground power units, and more.
  • Perform and track preventative maintenance for each piece of equipment.
  • Work with station management to help control budget and order parts and supplies.
