About The Position

The Role: The GSC Business Planner executes deliverables in support of the supply chain organization’s business objectives. This role provides leadership for a key area within Global Supply Chain, ensuring objectives are achieved across customer, quality, service, responsiveness, people, product, and financial performance. The Business Planner communicates with all levels of the organization, both within Global Supply Chain and across other functions and suppliers and supports relationship management with logistics suppliers and service providers. Success in this role requires the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment at General Motors.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in automation, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to plant locations when required for onsite support of launch and build-out.
  • Must be able to work on a rotating/flexible shift (1st, 2nd or 3rd) as needed
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends, as needed

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of Global Supply Chain experience
  • A deep understanding of Supply Chain functions
  • A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional process and layout/workflow changes, ensuring effective implementation through collaboration with operations, engineering, and other partner groups.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to understand and assess complex supply chain issues and lead teams in a cross functional environment to successfully resolve issues minimizing impacts to vehicle production
  • Assess supplier schedules and impact on vehicle assembly production
  • Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions
  • Ability to summarize critical issues with resolutions and communicate them to leadership
  • Handle complex capacity constraint issues to resolution with the goal to eliminate potential plant disruptions and reduce premium transportation
  • Analyze metrics supporting supplier critical issues or sufficiency plan resolution
  • Ability to solve complex issues and implement new and innovative strategies
