The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. This position is for permanent 1st shift COMET Group Manager, within Spaceflight Processing Launch Vehicle Engineering directorate Provides technical and managerial leadership for SLS/Orion Engineering systems. Perform engineering management tasks in support of the Flight Electrical Engineering group, which includes the Flight Vehicle Electrical Power System, Flight Termination System, Pyrotechnics and Wiring Disciplines. Candidate will support the Spaceflight Processing Department's Engineering function. Provides Management and technical leadership for SLS/Orion Electrical Power System (EPS), Flight Termination System (FTS), Pyrotechnics (PYRO) and wiring disciplines. Manages the overall working units' area of responsibility; develops and implements plans; determines personnel requirements and assigns; evaluates results, provides employee counseling and complies with EEO/AA programs. Makes personnel-related recommendations. Identifies and prepares resource estimates and complies with budget limitations Interprets, adapts and recommends policies and procedures; develops, coordinates, and implements policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Implements quality, safety and housekeeping standards Manages resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints and contributes to the overall success of the company by providing a motivated and productive staff Perform other duties as assigned A successful Group Manager will be able to: Provide alternatives to challenges that are creative, well thought out and can be effectively implemented Be able to lead a diverse group of individuals Be proactive in problem identification and resolution Match department resources and daily activities with program objectives and milestones

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in related management area; at least seven years of experience in progressively challenging technical or management positions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skills required.
  • Ability to manage resources effectively within budgetary and time constraints
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
  • If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
  • Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.
  • Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with endorsements Florida driver's license.
  • Must pass a federal background investigation.
  • Must comply with all "drug free workplace" requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Electrical, FTS or Pyro is desired, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of GFAST and SLS/Orion ground and flight systems is highly desirable.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers and Outlook is highly desirable.
