About The Position

This position is responsible for providing the necessary leadership for Team Members and Supervisors in our cross-dock operations.

Requirements

  • Associate degree and/or five (5) or more years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably the automotive industry.
  • Must have prior experience in high volume material handling, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Three (3) plus years in supervision strongly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to understand and operate material handling equipment safely and knowledge of projection.
  • Must possess a strong problem-solving aptitude and ability to apply problem solving strategies to improve processes.
  • Knowledge of shipping and receiving operations preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of PC applications and cognitive ability to learn customer software application(s).
  • Will be required to attend training and conduct training as necessary.
  • Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Able to use and manipulate Microsoft Excel a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support a safety-first mindset by implementing and following all safety procedures and practices.
  • Facilitate good communications with team leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolutions though a servant leadership approach.
  • Will be responsible for the overall dock and material handling.
  • Will ensure the proper training and development of team leaders and team members.
  • Support company (Carter Express & Customer) policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Facilitate good communications and reporting to customer.
  • Ensure that customer standards are being met by verifying that daily customer shipments are 100% on-time.
  • Must be able to effectively plan and manage manpower requirements to ensure efficient operations.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate payroll reporting and controlling manpower by staying within budget per company and department planning.
  • Must be able to successfully lead and function within a team environment.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain standardized work instructions for all material handling and sub-assembly processes.
  • Responsible for implementation and follow up of countermeasure activities related to customer and/or department issues.
  • Effectively resolve conflicts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Receptive of training and performing functions in multiple areas.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through 5S activities.
  • Responsible for proper waste disposal and all other activities associated with the Environmental Management System.
  • Lead Kaizen activities for quality, delivery, cost, and safety.
  • Responsible for maintaining and driving KPI’s through lean manufacturing principles, human resources planning, and flexibility.
  • Facilitate effective written and oral communications with team leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolutions.
  • Must be able to assure quality of product including confirmation of shipments via dock audit, yard audit and product sorting as necessary.
  • Will coordinate activities with other Group Leaders, shifts and departments.
  • Ensure PM schedule is followed properly and train when necessary.
  • Help develop and improve skill level of all associates, specifically direct reports.
  • Responsible for covering Team Leader absences as necessary, as well as the ability and willingness to fill in on other processes as needed.
  • Must complete all necessary production reporting and required paperwork.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as required.
