Group Financial Accountant | 3 Month Contract

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Group Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 3 month contract. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, this role plays a key part in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting across the business during a critical period. You will support month-end close, management reporting, audit and tax requirements, while partnering with stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to make an immediate impact within a large, fast-paced retail organisation.
Requirements
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Minimum 4 years’ accounting experience within a large organisation, ideally in a retail or multi-site environment.
- Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP highly regarded).
- Strong Excel and analytical skills with a detail-focused mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational and time-management capabilities.
- Proactive, adaptable team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of key components of the month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, gift cards, transaction fees and credit cards.
- Prepare management reports and deliver insightful analysis on performance against budget and prior periods.
- Identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to improve financial and operational outcomes.
- Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements and support the year-end audit process.
- Prepare and lodge Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns and contribute to corporate income tax reporting as required.
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to support commercial decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with project work, landlord and government reporting, and other ad hoc finance tasks.
- Provide cover and support to the wider finance team during peak periods.
