About The Position

The Group Finance Operations Controller role is a key operational support to the CFO, responsible for leading the Group’s finance operations, financial control execution, and reporting delivery in a fast-scaling, multi-jurisdictional FinTech environment. This senior, execution-focused leadership role involves hands-on ownership of finance operations, leadership of process improvement, and FP&A. The role ensures high-quality, timely financial information, strong operational discipline, effective internal controls, and consistent execution of finance processes across the Group’s global entity structure. It underpins decision-making by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial data and the smooth day-to-day functioning of the finance organisation. The Group Finance Operations Controller is accountable for finance operations, planning and forecasting mechanics, and continuous improvement of finance systems, workflows, and controls to support scalable and compliant growth.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 10+ years post‑qualification experience, ideally within regulated financial services, FinTech, or other high‑growth, multi‑entity environments.
  • Proven experience leading multi entity, multi-jurisdictional finance operations in a high growth environment.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience engaging with external auditors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, influence senior stakeholders, and manage complex cross functional initiatives.
  • Strong operational finance mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Highly organised and delivery‑focused, with the ability to manage complex timelines and competing priorities.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Pragmatic, solutions‑oriented approach to process improvement and problem‑solving.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, regulated, and evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CFO on financial planning, risk management, and capital allocation.
  • Drive financial insight and decision support for senior leadership across multiple business lines and regulated entities.
  • Lead cross functional initiatives to optimise profitability, improve operational efficiency, and support new product/market launches.
  • Represent Finance in internal governance forums, risk committees, and board level discussions where required.
  • Lead the annual budgeting cycle, multi-year planning, and rolling forecasts.
  • Translate financial insights into clear recommendations for resource allocation, cost optimisation, and investment prioritisation.
  • Partner with the CFO to design and evolve the group’s financial strategy, performance KPIs, and reporting dashboards.
  • Support VAT, corporation tax, transfer pricing and other tax related compliance activities (aligned with your ongoing TP and VAT review work).
  • Ensure financial processes meet evolving FinTech regulatory and audit expectations.
  • Provide leadership across AP, AR, payroll, intercompany processes, and cash management, reflecting themes in the current Finance Manager JDs (e.g., international payroll, AP, cash flow).
  • Strengthen liquidity management, cashflow forecasting, and treasury operations across multiple currencies and banking partners.
  • Drive process optimisation, automation, and scalability across financial systems and workflows.
  • Lead and mentor a high performing team of Finance Managers, Controllers, and Analysts.
  • Build capabilities across accounting, analytics, compliance, and business partnering.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, workflows, and operational controls.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, and efficiency across the finance function.
  • Ensure finance processes are well‑documented, scalable, and resilient as the Group continues to grow.
