The Devices business is a key focus area for Microsoft, combining an extensive portfolio of first party personal computing devices and strategies to grow the broader ecosystem. The Strategic Planning & Pricing team is a critical function in Devices Finance. We are chartered with driving business growth through assessing opportunity sets, defining & influencing product roadmaps to scale Copilot + PC’s, developing business & pricing models, and supporting partnership/deal initiatives. The team partners across several organizations – engineering, product marketing, business planning, business development, and supply chain. We are currently hiring a Group Finance Manager to lead a team of financial planning experts that supports the Long Range Strategic Planning of Microsoft’s Surface business. This impactful role requires strong business acumen, thought leadership, ability to navigate ambiguity, capability to create frameworks and business models, and partnership across functions. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
  • OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 12+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience managing direct reports.
  • 3+ years experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.
  • Ability to act as trusted advisor and partner to engineering, marketing, and business planning. Executive maturity and balanced self-awareness.
  • Executive level oral and written communication skills - able to communicate complex analysis and models in a simple way.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize across multiple workstreams, have attention to detail, and work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability of operating in ambiguous settings and creating clarity.
  • Courage to share opinions and influence decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a talented, high performing team of individual contributors through application of our management philosophy of Model, Coach and Care.
  • Lead end-to-end financial performance metrics and lifecycle insights across the Surface portfolio.
  • Partner with the Engineering & Marketing organizations to support end-to-end product planning, profitability strategies and strategic decision making from a well-rounded business perspective.
  • Build robust financial models and decision support frameworks with key partners in engineering and marketing to optimize the profitability of the devices portfolio, guide product roadmap, model opportunities for improvement, develop standard offer assessment frameworks where appropriate to streamline new program offerings.
  • Co-own and influence multi-year plan, focus, accountability, and incentives to accelerate gross margin.
  • Conduct financial analysis and statistical analysis to ensure business and financial success of new offerings from a unit, share, and profitability perspective.
  • Partner with other Surface finance teams to ensure appropriate landing of new offerings in overall finance Rythm of Business (reporting, target setting, budgeting, etc.).
