About The Position

Are you passionate about guiding individuals in their recovery journey? Recovery Centers of America (RCA) is seeking a Group Facilitator / Coach to deliver evidence-based psychoeducational and specialty groups, support patient engagement, and foster a safe, therapeutic environment. The Group Facilitator-Coach is responsible for delivering high-quality groups in alignment with the RCA Care Model, coaching patients to develop skills, and supporting the Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) team with operational and administrative tasks as needed. This role promotes sustained engagement in treatment while contributing to a positive and supportive recovery environment. The Group Facilitator is responsible for the delivery of RCA Substance Abuse curriculum for patients in our residential and IOP recovery programs. The curriculum, and training, will be provided for the facilitator to ensure quality and consistency in its delivery. There may be occasion for the Group Facilitator to work with the Clinical Director to develop new curriculum. The facilitator will be responsible for 15-20 1-hour groups per week. The facilitator will also be required to attend staff meetings and trainings as assigned. If the Group Facilitator holds the Board of MD Certified Associate Counselor -- Alcohol and Drug credential (CAC-AD) and is a Board approved Supervisor, they may also be responsible for supervision of staff holding A&D trainee status. The facilitator may then be responsible for 15-20 1-hour groups per week and trainee staff supervision.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or minimum state-required education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Experience in group facilitation is required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum of Associate Degree in Human Services, Alcohol & Drug Counseling, or related field of study required
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience, preferably in a residential setting
  • One of the following Maryland Board of Health Alcohol & Drug Counseling credentials required:
  • Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT Trainee Status) with Board-approved Supervisor
  • Certified Supervised Counselor -- Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD) with Board-approved Supervisor
  • Certified Associate Counselor -- Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD)
  • CAC-AD and Board-approved Supervisors License

Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional and effective group sessions according to RCA Care Model and curriculum.
  • Promote patient engagement and safety; escalate concerns to the treatment team as needed.
  • Document group attendance, session notes, and other required records accurately.
  • Participate in supervision with the Clinical Director and attend staff meetings and trainings.
  • Engage with patients and the recovery community in a culturally competent and supportive manner.
  • Support RSS team operational needs such as rounding, safety and belongings searches, and general milieu management.
  • Acquire skills through trainings to support evidence-based models.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
  • Ensure that groups are delivered professionally and effectively to meet desired learning objectives.
  • Engage with the recovery community in a culturally competent way, in and outside the group setting.
  • Complete group notes and all other paperwork as assigned.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Provide 1 hour of supervision, and training as needed, to A&D Trainee status employees each week.
  • Complete supervision documentation and monthly group observation for each trainee.
