About The Position

The YMCA of Delaware is dedicated to ensuring every youth and teen achieves success, improving the health and wellbeing of all individuals and families, and fostering community unity while inspiring service to others. The Group Ex Instructor Aquatics role involves leading engaging, safe, and educational group classes, specifically in aquatics, as directed by a supervisor. Key responsibilities include supporting members in achieving their healthy living goals by answering questions and maintaining current knowledge of wellness trends. The instructor is expected to build authentic relationships with members, helping them connect with each other and the wider YMCA community, and accurately record class attendance.

Requirements

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to serve a diverse community
CPR & First Aid Certified
Must have completed a Basic Instructor Training Course and/or completed one specialty certification

Nice To Haves

Multi-lingual skills
National Group Exercise Certification (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NETA) and/or BS in related field

Responsibilities

Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.
Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
Keeps accurate class attendance records.
