About The Position

The incumbent of this position is responsible for the maintenance of a safe and attractive campus environment.

General maintenance of grounds which includes, but is not limited to, shrub trimming, ornamental pruning, daily sidewalk and parking lot clearing, litter, and trash removal, weed removal, leaf pick-up and removal, mulching, planting shrubs, ornamentals and flowers, campus fertilization, grass mowing, trimming, and maintaining trees, cleans buildings, sidewalks and parking lots using pressure washing equipment.
Performs campus setups as requested.
Transport student luggage from dormitories to bus loading area per student home going.
Keeps accurate records of attendance and work orders.
Other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge of grounds keeping techniques
• Knowledge and skill in installation and repair of irrigation systems
• Skill in using lawn mowers, edgers, string trimmers and other grounds keeping equipment
• Ability to keep records
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with others
• Ability to maintain a Valid State of Florida Driver's License and meet FSDB requirements to operate a state vehicle according to the Transportation Policy
• Ability to correctly operate vehicles such as dump trucks, pick-up trucks, etc
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability and skill to safely lift various objects when necessary
• Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of work constantly to move objects
• Ability to complete training and administer skills acquired in CPR
• Ability to obtain sign language proficiency level in accordance with FSDB O.P.P.1.24

• Professional landscaping experience
• Experience operating the following equipment: Tractor, Backhoe, "Z" Turn Mower, Handheld Sprayer and Power Driver, Push Mower, String Trimmer, Edger, Blower and Chainsaw
• Experience in Irrigation systems, Herbicides, and Pesticides
