About The Position

ACU is affiliated with the followship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU. ‌ Basic Responsibilities 1. Work as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or the Grounds Manager. 2. Work as a team in maintaining the grounds in your zone in an effort to enhance the beauty of ACU 3. Assist other trades and grounds personnel as needed in the spirit of cooperation and team work. Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Follow established rules & procedures of the Landscape & Grounds Department and ACU. 2. Display necessary work initiative to work alone or in groups. 3. Maintain the grass, hardscapes and other areas associated with ACU grounds to the University standards. 4. Mow, weed-eat, and edge grass areas. 5. Empty and pick up trash in our area daily or as needed. 6. Keep hardscapes clean and free of debris. 7. Be on call 24 hours for inclement weather events. 8. Clean and maintain the equipment to extend the life of the University resources. 9. Perform work in a safe manner. Requirements

  • Knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Skilled in all areas of grounds maintenance.
  • Operate small equipment such as mower, weed-eater, blower, edger, and trimmer.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Five years of hands-on experience with grounds or landscape maintenance.
  • Successful candidate must be honest, trustworthy, dependable, responsible, punctual, and have a good moral character and work ethic.
  • Possession of a valid drivers license.
  • Must past a pre-employment background check.
  • Must be neat and clean in appearance at all times.
  • Good health and stamina to lift, carry and pull loads up to fifty pounds.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder.
  • Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold weather conditions.
