Responsible for maintenance of lawn and/or grass using mowers, edgers, and trimmers.
Rakes and maintains leaves, plants, flowers, trees, or shrubs.
Cleans up trash in parking lots/garages and exterior grounds.
Empty and clean trash containers.
Assist in snow removal and cleanup.
Assists in overall maintenance of grounds using equipment such as power washers, sweeper truck, lawn mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, edgers, etc.
Fastens attachments such as grader, harrows, floats, and rollers to tractors with hitch pins.
Releases brakes, shifts gears, and depresses accelerator or move throttle to control forward and backward movement of tractor.
Steers tractor by turning steering wheel and depressing brake pedals.
Assists in maintaining the integrity of the racing surface.
Delivers sand and clay to racetrack and barn areas.
Must clean all equipment used.
Must report problems with machinery or attachments to Motor Pool.
Assists all areas of the department when needed.
Assists with transportation of disabled horses.
Raking material around the racing surface.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must possess a valid drivers’ license which will be subject to annual DMV background checks.
• Must have 1-year maintenance experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Employee must be able to qualify for a West Virginia State Racing Commission License. Must possess a valid drivers’ license for the state in which you reside. In addition to a pre-employment background check, this position will be subject to periodic checks of your driving record to determine your continued suitability to drive company and/or patron vehicles.
• Must have OSHA certification on machinery used by Track Maintenance.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
• The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electric shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to very loud.
