About The Position

The groundskeeper is responsible for managing the landscaping requirements of assigned areas by keeping the grounds clean of trash, debris and anything else that could upset an otherwise orderly condition.

Requirements

Good academic and financial standing with the university
Current enrollment in classes at Lindenwood University
Valid driver’s license
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to multitask according to specifications
Strong professional integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Designated as an essential worker
Good judgment and critical thinking skills
Ability to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
Ability to stand, squat, reach and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand and walk continuously through shift
Ability to climb stairs and ladders
Regular in-person attendance is a necessary and essential function

Responsibilities

Manages and maintains campus vegetation
Maintains the cleanliness of campus grounds by removing trash, debris and other refuse
Assists with special event set-up, security and clean-up
Provides repairs and minor adjustments to machinery and equipment
Maintains all tools and equipment
Performs seasonal management to prepare the grounds by performing tasks that include trimming trees and bushes, removing moss and fertilizing
Adheres strictly to safety standards and practices
Prunes, trims and stakes trees, shrubs and other vegetation
Treats vegetation for insects and uses pesticides, fertilizers and other appropriate chemicals to remove weeds
Excavates holes and trenches for lights, sprinklers and other equipment
Removes weeds and other debris from mulched areas and flowerbeds
Plants seeds, bulbs, flowers, shrubs, trees and other vegetation in designated areas
Job may require other duties as assigned.
