About The Position

This is maintenance and personal services work in caring for the grounds at a state building complex. Work includes overseeing and working with a crew in preserving and improving the appearance of the grounds. Work is performed under general supervision.

Requirements

Knowledge of landscaping and groundskeeping techniques.
Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair.
Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather.
Ability to supervise crew.
Education, training or experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, carpentry, masonry, or another related field demonstrating competency in operating and servicing outdoor power equipment; overseeing grounds ands landscape maintenance; snow and ice removal and the ability to work collaboratively as a part if a team.
A valid Maine Class C license

Responsibilities

Oversees the seeding, watering, mowing, and raking of lawns in order to maintain grounds.
Monitors the digging of flower beds and planting, weeding, and tending flowers and shrubs in order to beautify grounds.
Oversees snow removal activities in order to ensure accessibility and safety of personnel.
Applies insecticides, fungicides, and other chemicals in order to control pests.
Repairs and maintains tools and equipment in order to ensure equipment is safe and maximize availability.
Oversees rubbish, leaves and other refuse removal in order to ensure area appearance meets established standards.
Monitors and oversees the repair of benches, paths, and other articles on the grounds in order to ensure user safety.
