About The Position

Supervises Grounds employees ensuring that the responsibilities of landscape services at Radford University are completed in a safe, timely, and professional manner.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with accepted horticultural and agronomic practices, pesticide usage practices, general construction and planning techniques, and equipment usage and maintenance practices.
• Extensive knowledge of turf and ornamental horticulture and modern accepted maintenance techniques.
• Working knowledge of landscaping and commercial mowing equipment and their capabilities and limitations.
• Basic math and mechanical are required.
• Proficient with written and verbal communication.
• Demonstrated supervisory experience.
• Ability to read plans, prepare estimates, and perform physical manual labor for completion of a landscape project.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in landscaping supervision.
• Experience working in a University setting.
• Extensive commercial landscape, turf, or horticultural experience.
• Previous experience with irrigation repair or installation.
• Post high school education in an agronomic field of study.
• Certified Fertilizer Applicator license issued by VDACS .
• Previous experience with grading, site work, and/or construction project sites and conditions.
