About The Position

A Grounds Substitute Worker participates in hands on maintenance of grounds and landscape, including athletic fields, in place of a regular Grounds Worker. Also performs related work as required by supervisor. Displays and practices a work style that reflects the mission and values of Rancho Community Church and Schools. This position is not promised a set schedule. The work days and hours can fluctuate week to week as this position is on an "as needed11 basis.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of landscape maintenance.
  • Working knowledge to prep fields for athletics
  • Demonstrate a passion for Christ and his Kingdom through personal spiritual discipline and public ministry.
  • Seek to grow in that relationship with Christ through personal spiritual discipline, education, accountability and service to his Kingdom.
  • Ability to use basic English language, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to do simply math is required.
  • General safety procedures related to grounds maintenance.
  • Valid California Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: 2-5 years preferred in landscape and fields maintenance
  • Good working history and attendance.
  • Expected to perform a wide variety of tasks with only occasional instruction or assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns.
  • Weed and mulch landscapes.
  • Trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees.
  • Remove dead, damaged or unwanted trees.
  • Plant flowers, trees, and shrubs.
  • Water lawns, landscapes and gardens.
  • Groom the football field, sweep and clean bleachers.
  • Chalking the softball and baseball fields for games and the track.
  • Maintains prompt, complete and accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English in order to read and interpret labels on hazardous materials as well as policies and procedures and ask questions, if needed.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor in a safe manor.
  • Ability to operate a variety of grounds equipment.
  • Ability to drive vehicles as needed.
  • Able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, lifts and ramps.
  • May be exposed to heat, cold, odors, chemicals, pesticides, pollen and dirt; as well as gasoline and motor oils.
