The School Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, safety, and functionality of school grounds across assigned campuses. This position involves routine landscaping and grounds maintenance duties, including mowing, trimming, pruning, planting, fertilizing, and weed control. The Groundskeeper also assists with seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow or ice control (as applicable), and preparation of outdoor areas for school activities and events. All work is performed in accordance with safety guidelines and district standards to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. In addition to routine maintenance, the Groundskeeper is responsible for inspecting school grounds for hazards, repairing or reporting damaged equipment, sidewalks, fencing, or playground areas, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role requires the operation and maintenance of groundskeeping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and small tractors. The Groundskeeper works closely with maintenance and custodial staff and may assist with setting up or breaking down equipment for school events. Physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential for this position.
