Grounds Host duties include but are not limited to watering plants, weed whacking, trash removal, following safety regulations, and performing various cleaning tasks. Working as a Grounds Host is the perfect way to gain valuable experience in landscaping, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Requirements

  • Must b e at l e ast 18 y e ars of ag e to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work fl e xibl e sch e dul e , including e v e nings, w e e k e nds, and holidays
  • Must b e availabl e to work at th e park during non-op e rating hours, including th e hours prior to th e park op e ning e ach day.
  • Must hav e r e liabl e transportation to and from work for your sch e dul e d shift
  • Ability to saf e ly and e ffici e ntly op e rat e motoriz e d v e hicl e s and e quipm e nt
  • Ability to comply with all uniform polici e s
  • Must b e abl e to saf e ly and e xp e rtly op e rat e a vari e ty of hand and pow e r landscaping tools, including lawn mow e rs, trimm e rs, and w e e d whack e rs
  • Ability to follow dir e ction, multi-task, and work as part of a t e a m as w e ll as ind e p e nd e ntly
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kn e e l, b e nd, or squat for long p e riods of tim e

Responsibilities

  • E nvision and cr e at e artistic landscap e s that ar e pl e asing and visually app e aling to g u e sts.
  • Assist with g e n e ral r e pair and maint e nanc e of park grounds , including , but not limit e d to , landscaping and midway cl e an up
  • Maintain complianc e with company and industry b e st practic e s, polici e s, and proc e dur e s to cr e at e a saf e e nvironm e nt for coll e agu e s and gu e sts
  • P e rform a wid e vari e ty of landscaping functions, including wat e ring, w e e d whacking, pruning, trimming topiari e s, l e af raking, and lawnmowing
  • Assist with th e r e moval of trash, brush, branch e s, and tr e e s
  • Assist with snow r e moval and salting roadways and walkways
  • Maintain wat e rways , ponds , d e corativ e pools, and fountains , as n e e d e d
  • E mpty fir e pits and cl e an campsit e s
  • Assist with th e manag e m e nt of sanitation and r e cycling programs
  • Assist in sit e pr e paration, plantings (all plant typ e s – from larg e tr e e s to small annuals), mulch and topsoil application, loading and unloading mat e rials and tools and hauling e quipm e nt
  • Continuously monitor outdoor spac e s and midways for saf e ty hazards ( e .g. loos e branch e s, tripping hazards, e tc.)
  • Monitor and stock landscaping suppli e s , as n e e d e d
  • Assist with th e pr e paration and s e t-up of picnic, cat e ring, and e mpl oy e e party ar e as, wh e n r e qu e st e d
  • P e rform oth e r rol e s throughout th e park to m e e t sch e duling n e e ds, including rid e op e rators, Park S e rvic e s t e a m , or oth e r park positions, as n e e d e d
  • All oth e r duti e s assign e d by l e ad e rship
