About The Position

You'll help maintain and enhance Fort Wayne's parks-keeping spaces clean, safe, and ready for the community to enjoy. From operating equipment to hands-on grounds work, you'll play a key role in how our parks look and function every day.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of experience operating grounds or similar equipment
  • At least 1 year of experience in landscaping, turf management, or grounds maintenance
  • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons and handle physically demanding work

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Indiana Driver's License with for-hire endorsement
  • Working knowledge of turf maintenance and grounds care practices
  • Ability to read and follow safety procedures, equipment manuals, and work instructions
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills for daily operations

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, graders, and sprayers on a variety of terrains
  • Maintain park grounds including mowing, turf care, tree trimming, litter removal, and field maintenance
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and report repair needs
  • Complete work orders, reports, and documentation accurately and on time
  • Work collaboratively with team members while providing professional interaction with park visitors
  • Assist with directing work crews as assigned
  • Support training of new or existing team members
