About The Position

Responsible for assisting Lineman in fieldwork by performing general labor duties.

Requirements

  • Must exhibit good interpersonal skills. Must be able to work as a team player, and follow instructions.
  • Must possess good communicative skills to effectively express oneself to all level of employees.
  • Ability to communicate knowledge and ideas with clearness, effectiveness, and ease.
  • Will have the ability to report for work at the scheduled starting time and be ready to work. Must be able to schedule and organize time efficiently to complete tasks.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education. Will have completed course work from an accredited lineman training school.
  • Sit, stand, walk, grasp, reach outward and overhead, kneel, squat and bend. Ability to safely ascend and descend stairways and cat walks, and equipment. Lift/carry 50 – 75 lbs. Push/pull 25 -50 lbs. Ability to work in extreme heat or cold and in confided spaces. Ability to differentiate colors and utilize senses. Visual acuity and manual dexterity in using precision and non-precision hand tools, power tools, and technical devices; ability to use all required safety equipment.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical and participation in the company random drug testing program.

Nice To Haves

  • Will preferably have experience with construction, fieldwork, heavy equipment, and safety training.
  • Will preferably have a CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with power line construction. Observes Lineman work and anticipates Lineman’s needs for material and tools.
  • Performs manual labor tasks such as loading and hauling materials, digging trenches, clearing brush, cleaning vehicles, and other general miscellaneous tasks.
  • Assist in the proper use and care of all tools and equipment, and report to Line Foreman any equipment working improperly or in need of repair.
  • Must be able to drive automotive equipment and maintain a current driver’s license applicable to class of vehicle to be driven and must have a thorough knowledge of applicable traffic laws and rules governing safe driving practices. Must operate and maintain vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, practicing good housekeeping with said vehicles and associated equipment as assigned.
  • Assists in operating equipment such as a backhoe, bucket truck, four-wheelers, truck, and any other equipment needed.
  • Assists in loading and unloading equipment from trucks.
  • Assists Metering Department as needed.
  • Maintains a safe working environment. Report hazardous conditions immediately to Supervisor and/or co-workers on jobsite. Follows instructions, adheres to policies, procedures and instruction.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
