About The Position

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, home of the world-renowned Skunk Works®, is seeking a System Engineer to join a team focused on advanced aircraft development. This role involves providing technical services and guidance for the installation, upgrades, maintenance, configuration management, and mission operations of Unmanned Air System (UAS) Ground Control Stations (GCS). The System Engineer will be an integral member of a technical team overseeing complex mission systems during operations, troubleshooting products, modifying them to customer requirements, and providing training. The position also involves designing, developing, integrating, and testing mission system equipment onto airborne platforms, performing hands-on activities like building and installing electrical and mechanical components, and managing prototype development areas. The candidate will actively contribute to the development of various systems including System Integration Labs, Deployable Shelters, and Fixed Facilities, working closely with Hardware, Platform, Software, and Integration/Test teams to create flexible test facilities. This role also includes leading maintenance, upgrade, and build-up efforts for legacy and new systems, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget, and supporting the Hardware Engineering Lead during travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in STEM or related field (preferably Electrical Engineering) OR appropriate, equivalent and applicable system admin/IT experience from desired skills below in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical services and guidance on installation, upgrades, maintenance, configuration management and mission operations of Unmanned Air System (UAS) Ground Control Stations (GCS).
  • Provide expertise for resolving technical problems, troubleshoots products and modifies them to customer requirements.
  • Provide training to customers.
  • Confer with a broader engineering team regarding anomalies in system operation.
  • Help design, develop, integrate and test a variety of mission system equipment onto airborne platforms.
  • Perform hands-on activities by building and installing electrical and mechanical components including cable assemblies, computer systems and voice/data communication devices.
  • Organize and manage multiple prototype development areas.
  • Use special test equipment for verification of system functionality.
  • Actively contribute in the team developing several systems including System Integration Labs, Deployable Shelters, and Fixed Facilities in support of various projects.
  • Work effectively with members for the Hardware Engineering, Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, and Integration/Test teams to develop a flexible test facility capable of supporting both development and test efforts.
  • Lead maintenance, upgrade, and build-up efforts on legacy and new systems, on or ahead of schedule, within proposed budgets.
  • Support the Hardware Engineering Lead when on travel, ensuring local efforts stay coordinated and problems get resolved as they arise.
  • Actively contribute as part the Hardware Engineering team, developing systems including System Integration Labs (SILs), Deployable Systems, and Fixed Facility systems across several projects.
