Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Ground Software Manager 3 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals within the Eastern Region of Engineering in the DevSecOps organization. This position will be based in Dulles, VA. The DevSecOps organization is focused on supporting Agile, DevOps, Ground Software Development, and Cybersecurity implementation and transformation throughout the division. The team consists of multiple SMEs dedicated to supporting organizational and programmatic change, as well as being the functional home room for our Agile, DevOps, Ground Software and Cyber engineers. We are looking for a leader to oversee a team of approximately 80 Ground Software Engineers, providing leadership, guidance, and vision toward repeatable processes that will enable the team to achieve predictable and balanced results while satisfying the needs of internal and external partners. In this role, you will be responsible for the functional management of a large and growing team of Software Developers and Software Testers, assigned to programs within Space Systems. Management duties include: Employee development Staffing Communication meetings Compensation adjustments Training, educational oversight, and approval Routine personnel issues Management duties are expected to constitute 50% of your time, with the remaining 50% will be spent on other technical activities. These other technical activities may include Ground Software Support, Project Management Support, or direct program support depending on your skills and organizational need. Attitude is Everything: To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate that you are an experienced, proactive leader who has overseen large, multi-layered management teams. You should be a person who takes initiative and isn't afraid to get involved and confidently address challenges.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM degree, 8+ years of experience, and significant direct experience in the field of Software Engineering, as well as program management.
  • Experience leading a large, multi-layered organization with exceptional leadership skills to coordinate collaboration across engineering teams.
  • Experience with NG products, processes, and procedures
  • High proficiency in technical problem solving, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring.
  • Significant experience with design, build, deployment, and aftermarket service of standard commercial software products.
  • SW development background, including experience with C++, Python, Bash Shell Scripting, and/or Perl
  • Strong experience in producing software architecture documentation.
  • US Citizenship with Active DOD Top Secret/SCI at time of application

  • Experience with Agile Development or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Experience in design, development, implementation, or operation of Spacecraft Ground Software systems
