About The Position

We are seeking a Software Engineer eager to learn and grow, who will contribute to mission-critical initiatives for government agencies and internal stakeholders. As a Software Engineer, you will build foundational skills in a supportive environment while helping to deliver secure, resilient, and compliant cloud services Our team's mission is to grow the business by building software that fulfills our enterprise promises of high availability, resiliency, data management, security, and compliance across the entire suite of Azure services, with a special focus on government clouds. As a Software Engineer, you will work on scoped, well-defined problems with guidance from more experienced team members. You will develop core engineering skills while contributing as a reliable team member, learning to navigate the technical landscape and build trust through consistent delivery. US citizenship is required for this role due to the sensitive nature of our government customer engagements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Learn to design, implement, and deploy secure Microsoft services in cloud and hybrid environments with guidance from senior engineers
  • Develop foundational skills in building frontend and backend systems, understanding distributed systems concepts and basic data integration patterns.
  • Learn engineering principles for reliability, security, and compliance; contribute to telemetry and observability practices.
  • Build and deploy code using CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code with support and oversight.
  • Collaborate with team members across disciplines to understand customer requirements and contribute to feature delivery.
  • Learn debugging techniques, testing strategies, and how to interpret logs and metrics to identify issues.
  • Follow engineering best practices for code quality, security, and operational excellence.
  • Seek mentorship and feedback to accelerate growth; participate in code reviews and design discussions.
  • Participate in service ownership activities (e.g., on-call rotations) to build operational awareness.
