About The Position

As a Ramp Agent, you will be essential in ensuring that flights run on time by providing efficient ground support services in a fast-paced, safety-obsessed aviation environment. Requirements

  • Good Communication Skills – able to communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with the flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate the movement and handling of planes, equipment, baggage, and cargo
  • Basic math skills: may be required to calculate weight and balance calculations for planes
  • Computer skills: may be required to use computer systems to track cargo and baggage
  • Problem-solving skills: may be called upon to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading
  • Time management skills: must be able to manage time effectively to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or work experience equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • If work location is in the United States, must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • If work location is in Canada, must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001
  • Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
  • If required by customer or role access, be able to secure a Customs Seal through the respective governing agency

Responsibilities

  • Guide inbound/outbound airplanes to and from the gate
  • Transport, lift, load/unload, sort and transfer passenger baggage, cargo, and mail material in and out of aircraft bins, belt loader, or baggage carts in a safe manner
  • Safeguard customer baggage, air cargo, airmail from weather, loss, theft, damage and/or destruction
  • Clean aircraft passenger cabins between flights and stock aircraft with needed supplies
  • Operate heavy equipment such as pushback equipment and maintain visual contact with Wing Walkers to ensure the equipment is free of any danger
  • Operate and/or drive motorized equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, push back tugs, bag cart, lavatory cart, and deicers; or manually push and pull push carts and containers
  • Operate equipment to move luggage and cargo, tow planes between gates, and refill water tanks and lavatories
  • Receive and record customer baggage, air freight, mail, and company materials as required
  • Pick up, deliver, and transport cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, which could include wheelchairs, strollers, live animals, and other vital property of passengers, and prepare records in connection with these responsibilities
  • Complete paperwork and forms connected with work assignments pertaining to procedures and enter data into company's information system as required
  • Follow company procedures and protocols to ensure safe and responsible operation
  • Complete all training when required by company, airport governing authority, or customer
  • Be on time, be prepared, and be safe
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Take reasonable care for the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of themselves and of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions while at work
  • Cooperate with their manager / supervisor to allow them to perform or comply with any legal requirements imposed on the company
  • Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided by the company in the interests of health, wellbeing, safety, security or welfare reasons
  • Inform their manager / supervisor of any work situation, equipment, or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger to health, wellbeing, safety, and security
  • Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to their manager / supervisor
  • Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific health, wellbeing, safety, and security rules or procedures
  • Fully understand AGI Health & Safety and Security policies
  • Attend training courses as may be required by AGI
