About the Job The Grossing Technician, under the supervision of a Pathologist, processes non‑complex human tissue specimens, assists with intra‑operative consultations, and helps maintain organized storage of tissues, blocks, and slides. This role also supports specimen accessioning as needed. Here's What You’ll Do Receive, accession, gross, and dissect surgical specimens following established protocols. Perform decalcification, special processing, and specimen photography when required. Identify and document issues that may impact testing and take or report corrective actions. Complete and document all quality control procedures to ensure accuracy of patient testing. Maintain equipment, manage supplies, and keep the grossing area clean and safe. Assist with updating procedures, maintaining records, and supporting QC/QA documentation.

Requirements

  • Must be high-complexity eligible (bachelors in a science field or meet criteria through associates and years of experience)
  • Completion of a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology degree; OR At least 60 semester hours of college coursework, including: 24 semester hours of science, with 6 hours in Chemistry, 6 hours in Biology, and 12 additional hours in Chemistry, Biology, or Medical Technology (any combination)
  • Experience in grossing or pathology
