Gross Technician
About The Position
P&C Labs is looking for a new Gross Technician to join their 2nd shift team! About Us: P&C Labs is a comprehensive provider of anatomic pathology and cytopathology services, covering specimen transport, preparation, immunohistochemistry testing, and final patient reporting. Pathology and Cytology Laboratories LLC, along with Chipps, Caffrey & Dubilier, P.S.C., specializes in Anatomic Pathology, Cytopathology, Hematopathology, GI Pathology, Clinical Laboratory Consultations, and Laboratory Medical Directorships. Established in 1967, we deliver the highest quality service and professional expertise to physicians, clinics, and hospitals. Role Overview: The primary purpose of this role is to perform macroscopic examinations of higher complexity surgical tissue specimens under the guidance of the Pathologists and/or Pathologists Assistants. This position may also perform additional duties as needed including courier count-in, accessioning, equipment maintenance or other duties as deemed necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science or science related field.
Responsibilities
- Verifying patient information and appropriate accessioning part type
- Reviewing pertinent clinical history
- Macroscopic examination of surgical tissue specimens with appropriate dictation and tissue sampling based on clinical history
- Ensuring additional studies/procedures are performed based on clinical history (i.e. decalcification, flow cytometry, crystal polarization)
- Keeping a clean and orderly workstation
- Assisting with additional tasks as needed (specimen set up, accessioning, tumor banking, tissue disposal, etc.)
