About The Position

Grocery Purchasing Coordinators ensure proper supply, storage, rotation, stocking, preparation, and display of products in accordance with established practices, priorities and merchandising objectives. They provide daily leadership to employees and train staff in compliance with WFC policies and practices. They also work with department management to develop and maintain pars, and assist the department manager in coordinating department operations to meet goals for sales, margin, labor expense and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, purchase, price, process special orders and merchandise designated products through approved suppliers to meet department goals and in compliance with the department’s Organic Standards Handling Plan and established practices; communicate and document unresolved vendor issues and/or concerns to department management; work with department management to identify new products and vendors.
  • Ensure adequate and timely supply of products from vendors and that volume of products ordered meets needs of anticipated sales/usage; ensure designated products are received according to established practices and, as applicable, credit is received from vendors; ensure vendor invoices are accurate and coordinate product pricing and promotional pricing with IT Department in a timely manner.
  • Ensure consistent monitoring, mitigation and, as necessary, replacement of out-of- stock items based on established department standards.
  • Expedite received orders for sales floor and/or to appropriate storage; sort special orders and allocate to appropriate storage and/or to other departments; document contributions/losses in compliance with established practices.
  • Promptly coordinate Point of Sale/POS maintenance information with IT Department including, but not limited to, price changes, entry of new products/sale batches and deleting products/sale batches; coordinate with IT Department to ensure appropriate and accurate shelf signs/price tags for all designated products.
  • Direct, train and develop designated employees in compliance with established practices, policies and budget restrictions to support day-to-day operations and to achieve department goals.
  • Ensure department accountability for maintaining performance standards, provide daily supervision and leadership to designated employees and follow through promptly on documentation in compliance with WFC policies and practices.
  • Ensure cooperation and coordination within the department to achieve department goals for purchasing, receiving, storage, stocking, rotating and merchandising of all Grocery Department products.
  • Assist customers in finding product and/or information, promptly and courteously answer and accurately route phone calls, messages, and customer requests in compliance with established practices.
  • As directed, move into back stock, rotate, stage, stock and/or merchandise products in accordance with shift criteria.
  • Achieve WFC customer service standards for internal and external customers.

  • Achieve daily operational goals as directed by your supervisor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of department areas and equipment and communicate and document any equipment maintenance and/or safety concerns to department management.
  • Report any problems with systems, tools and/or products to department supervisors.
  • Promote ownership and owner benefits consistently and positively.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by department management.
