Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions and engaging in suggestive selling techniques (in‑person, phone, and in‑store announcements).
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Director when necessary.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety standards are upheld throughout the department.
  • Act as the leader responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
  • Schedule employees to ensure proper coverage and service levels.
  • Assign and supervise daily duties for all department employees.
  • Train employees on store policies, procedures, sales techniques, and record‑keeping practices.
  • Identify and develop high‑potential employees for advancement.
  • Build and maintain grocery displays; rotate and remove outdated or spoiled product.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays; coordinate all grocery sales promotions.
  • Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, fully stocked, clean, and properly maintained.
  • Maintain department standards, code‑dating requirements, and product freshness.
  • Stock and rotate product following division guidelines.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every six months.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Order grocery products and maintain inventory levels per division directives.
  • Oversee reclamation processes and ensure orderly, in‑stock conditions in the back room and grocery areas.
  • Control shrink and monitor cost‑effectiveness.
  • Implement proper product preparation techniques and operate related equipment (pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, Sterilox machine).
  • Apply working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Initiate personnel actions including pre‑employment interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain accurate departmental procedures and ensure compliance with all operational standards.
