Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by providing product suggestions and engaging in suggestive selling through phone, intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director as needed.
  • Responsible for total store operations in the Store Director’s absence (see Store Director job description).
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes following company procedures and profitability guidelines.
  • Build grocery displays, rotate stock, and remove outdated or spoiled product; maintain cleanliness of work areas and departmental spaces.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays; coordinate grocery sales promotions.
  • Ensure merchandise is correctly priced, well‑stocked, rotated, and properly displayed; maintain clean and organized shelves.
  • Maintain department standards and ensure compliance with operational requirements.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate job performance.
  • Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Maintain specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening/closing, Dairy, and Frozen.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train employees in store policies, sales processes, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Identify high‑potential employees and support their development and advancement.
  • Initiate personnel actions including interviewing, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain working knowledge of policies and guidelines within the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; support physical inventory conducted every 6 months.
  • Control inventory to ensure appropriate product quantity, quality, and freshness per division directives.
  • Stock, rotate, and maintain back room and departmental product levels.
  • Order grocery products and maintain inventory levels per division standards.
  • Supervise reclamation processing and maintain in‑stock, organized conditions across all grocery areas.
  • Control shrink and manage costs through proper rotation, storage, and product handling.
  • Ensure proper code‑dating and compliance with product rotation practices.
  • Implement correct product preparation techniques.
  • Use and operate related equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
  • Follow company, state, and federal safety and sanitation guidelines; promote compliance with all workplace safety rules.
