About The Position

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Sales Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and friendly service. Assist customers by making product suggestions. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques (phone, intercom, one-on-one). Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and report to Store Director as needed. Store Operations Responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director. Plan daily operations and monitor production processes for profitability. Build grocery displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products. Ensure cleanliness of work area and department. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays; coordinate grocery sales promotions. Ensure merchandise is correctly priced and displayed; maintain clean and organized shelves. Follow and maintain department standards and requirements. Staff Management Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance. Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels. Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees (including opening/closing, dairy, and frozen). Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures. Identify and train employees with high potential for advancement. Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Compliance & Safety Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department. Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company policies. Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas. Implement emergency procedures for equipment and software malfunctions. Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations. Inventory & Financial Control Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 6 months. Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness. Maintain inventory levels according to division directives; stock and rotate products. Order grocery products and maintain inventory levels per division guidelines. Supervise reclamation processing and maintain orderly backroom and grocery department conditions. Control shrink and costs. Equipment & Technology Implement correct product preparation techniques. Operate related equipment: pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machine. Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order products. Receiving & Processing Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify orders using invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, stock and rotate products. Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques. Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. Complete and monitor daily log sheets, sales, labor, and other required paperwork. Communication & Leadership Attend and participate in sales meetings. Communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to employees to ensure positive results. Ensure compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
