DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Sales Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service. Assist customers by offering product suggestions and solutions. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, intercom announcements, and direct customer interaction. Answer incoming calls professionally; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when needed. Operational Leadership Responsible for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director (refer to Store Director job description). Plan daily operations and monitor production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability goals. Build grocery displays, rotate stock, and remove outdated or spoiled product; ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area and department. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays and coordinate grocery sales promotions. Ensure merchandise is priced correctly, accurately displayed, and shelves are clean and properly maintained. Maintain compliance with department standards, procedures, and performance expectations. Team Supervision & Training Monitor employee productivity and conduct performance evaluations. Schedule employees to ensure appropriate coverage and service levels. Possess detailed knowledge of the duties performed by all department employees, including opening/closing, dairy, and frozen responsibilities. Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Train employees on store policies, sales processes, and record‑keeping procedures. Identify high‑potential employees and support advancement opportunities. Initiate personnel actions, including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Maintain thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Inventory Management & Merchandising Ensure proper code dating and rotation for all department products. Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every six months. Control inventory levels to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division directives. Stock, rotate, and replenish products in all Grocery Department areas. Order grocery products and maintain inventory levels per division guidance. Oversee reclamation processing and maintain organized and in‑stock conditions in the back room and sales floor. Control shrink and department operating costs. Implement correct product preparation and handling techniques. Equipment & Safety Safely operate department equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines. Maintain a clean, safe working environment consistent with company safety standards.
