This role has a strong focus on grinding operations. As a Grinder Machinist, you will set up, operate, and maintain a variety of precision grinding machines to produce high-tolerance parts. You’ll be responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, performing accurate inspections with or without dedicated fixtures, and ensuring every component meets Mate’s industry-leading standards. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a two-year technical degree preferred.
  • Experience operating CNC and/or conventional machining equipment, including ID/OD and surface grinders (manual or CNC).
  • Strong precision machining skills; experience in a tool & die environment is a plus.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills with a high level of proficiency in GD&T.
  • Ability to use a full range of precision inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.) and determine inspection methods without dedicated fixtures.
  • Familiarity with machine tooling, fixtures, basic programming, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent math skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the patience and focus needed for high-tolerance work.
  • Clean, organized work habits and a dependable, positive attitude that supports teamwork and continuous growth.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC, conventional, and ID/OD/surface grinding machines to produce precision components.
  • Perform high-accuracy grinding using manual and CNC equipment.
  • Read complex blueprints and GD&T to ensure parts meet exact specifications.
  • Inspect parts using precision measurement tools and determine appropriate inspection methods with or without fixtures.
  • Monitor machine performance, make adjustments, and troubleshoot to maintain smooth production.
  • Meet production goals while upholding Mate’s high quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, including 5S and Kaizen.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Share knowledge and support team development through training and collaboration.

  • Competitive Pay: $35.00–$39.36 per hour base pay, plus an additional $1.00 per hour for Second-Shift differential.
  • Stable Schedule: 1st shift - 6:30-3:00 Monday–Friday, or 2nd shift - 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm Monday–Friday
