About The Position

For over 100 years, Spincraft has been utilizing metal spinning and forming to solve its customers’ greatest manufacturing challenges. Leading in metal forming solutions partnered for Aerospace, Defense, Energy, and more, Spincraft’s mission has formed a division, Engineering Technologies Group (ETG), a part of the global Standex International team, with four locations worldwide. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Grinder/Finisher is responsible for finishing metal components to precise specifications using grinding and polishing tools and machinery. This role ensures that surfaces are smooth, free of defects, and meet quality standards required for further processing or final assembly. Shift Schedule: 7:00AM-3:30PM

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
  • Minimum 1-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Position requires manual dexterity to handle and operate several grinding tools and equipment
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Capable of following directions
  • Take responsibility for achieving production efficiency, quality of product and reports discrepant material immediately
  • Demonstrate customer focus by seeking out, understanding, and responding to the needs of both internal and external customers
  • Maintain a positive attitude and communicate openly and honestly with others
  • Solve problems proactively and contributes to continuously improving the process/product
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in environments with noise, heat, or dust
  • Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day

Responsibilities

  • Perform simple grinding and cutting operations for product line
  • Operate all grinding tools, fixtures, and blocks to meet desired specifications, including robotic cells as required
  • Demonstrate an understanding of grinding media and how to achieve finish requirements
  • Perform finishing operations such as breaking edges and threads, chamfering and blending surfaces
  • Operate hand tools, bench grinders, disc and belt sanders to remove flashings, burrs, and surface irregularities prior to or following machine operations
  • Utilize proper placement of dust hoods and dust collectors to safely ventilate workspace
  • Inspect or measure finished workpieces to determine conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as gauges, micrometers, profilometer
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine machine setup, type of material or part, quantity, and finish dimensions
  • Accurately execute Company Process Control (PC) instructions and provide feedback when revisions are needed
  • Perform daily/weekly operator maintenance on grinding equipment/tools (oil, clean, and inspection)
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs as needed
  • Accomplish organization goals by actively exploring opportunities to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. (SQDC)
  • Train others by openly sharing information, knowledge, and expertise with the team
  • Complete job assignments as directed by Manufacturing Manager
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and participate in audits as directed
  • Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Follow all company rules including company EH&S policy and all federal, state, local, and other safety regulations and practices
  • Use personal protective equipment and devices provided for machinery, equipment, tools and processes, when defined in PCS, Company Safety Policy, Job Safety Analysis or Management direction
  • Report all unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries immediately to management
  • Actively participate in 6S and lean activities as outlined by the Company
  • Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and following Company instructions
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Store and maintain tools, equipment and gauges as defined by company standards
  • Keep work area clean and organized to company standards/expectations
  • Daily cleaning and sweeping of work area, tools and equipment
  • Empty trash and waste as needed
  • Personal items removed from workstations
