About The Position

L3Harris is seeking a Grinder/Finisher in its Norfolk VA location. The Grinder/Finisher is responsible for finishing surfaces of machined metal and assembled parts to a specified specification. This role involves manual and machine finishing processes, ensuring that all parts meet quality standards and the company's safety policies.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in grinding, finishing, or a related field.
Proficiency in operating grinding and finishing machines and hand tools.
Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
Experience working with safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment.

Strong attention to detail and quality control skills.
Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Operate grinding and finishing machinery and hand tools to finish metal components.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine product specifications and requirements.
Inspect and measure finished products to ensure they meet the required specifications.
Perform routine maintenance on grinding and finishing equipment.
Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Document production data and report any discrepancies or issues to the supervisor.
Collaborate with team members to improve processes and meet production goals.
Able to lift and move objects up to 35 lbs.
Standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Use of measuring tools(calipers, tape measure, radius gauge, micro finish comparator).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
